CPHFW conclusion: shows and street style
I hope you're hungry, because we're going to have a look at what's coming up for us at the fashion menu next year.
It is here: the first issue of my very own newsletter: This Girl I Follow! Thanks to everyone who just opened this little letter in their inboxes – i see and appreciate you! <3
Now that the first sentences are done and the bandaid (actually writing the first words) is ripped off, let’s dive right into this issues topic: Copenhagen Fashion Week. It was my second season but my first real one: doing lots of events and shows everyday. It feels like a big class meeting of all the creators and industry people, you finally meet in real life and catch up. Also, Copenhagen is just a tiny village and you run into people at all times, it’s lovely.
But enough yapping, let’s talk about what I observed fashion-wise and what we can expect from the upcoming Spring/Summer 2025 season. If you didn’t know: The shows in august in Copenhagen show fashion that will be in stores next spring.
Trend observation 1: Cow hide
I had a guess that cow hide is gonna be trendy early this year when SAMSØE SAMSØE presented their stuning take on a cow hide jacket, but the past week confirmed my suspicions. Cow hide is everywhere but specifically on jackets, coats, bags and belts. I personally prefer this animal print over leopard because the color palette goes a lot better with my personal style. So I’m super excited for this trend.
But is it actually cow hide as in … leather or even fur? Yes it is, and it is up to you if you support this or not. But here is a little introduction in the topic: Cow hide is the cow’s skin that has not been processed into leather. It is the unbleached skin and hair (which also means: less processing, less energy used) keeping the natural coloring, which can vary in forms and colors. Other animals are often bred to just serve their fur to the fur industry, which is less justifiable ethically – whereas cow hide is mostly a byproduct of the food industry – though of course it is not always 100% traceable.
Luckily, you can also join the cow hide or cow print trend without real animal skin. There are lots of garments with faux fur or just prints. Obviously I already browsed the internet (for research only of course!!) for some cool pieces and put a few items together for you. Both real cow hide and print/faux fur.

So far I found it really hard finding good cow hide pieces second hand. Specifically clothes – bags are easier. I’d recommend your local reselling platforms like Ebay (Kleinanzeigen) or Vestiaire Collective. I think it’s gonna be a bit longer searches but in the end they might pay off.
Here are some keywords for thrifting online: cow hide, cow fur, cow print, cow pants/bag/ whatever garment you’re searching, cow spots, cow spotted
Trend observation 2: sheer (sparkles)

If you hear ‘see-through’ or ‘sheer’ and panic – you’re not alone. I usually like my garments to cover up whatever is underneath, but what if there is another layer of clothes underneath? That’s advanced layering in my opinion, and we’re all in this together to learn!
This season I saw lots of see-through layers with sparkling elements like sequins or glitter, which I really love if it’s combined with high contrast materials like denim or knit for example. I put some runway looks and streetstyle above but I understand if you dont want to pull up like this to your 9 to 5 job - fair! So here are two ideas to implement this trend into more everyday-ish looks.

Keyword recommendations for thrifting online: sequins, sparkle, pailettes, sheer, see through, glitter, bangle, gemstones
Trend observation 3: Bomber jackets
I remember wearing bomber jackets in all colors when i was 15 and at some point, I decided they’re tacky and I won’t wear them anymore. Until a few months ago: when I got my black Ganni bomber jacket that I’ve been wearing all the time since (and gotten so many questions about as well).
I love a short bomber jacket because it goes so well with oversized pants, which I also wear all the time. Usually the bottom of the jacket is tighter than the bulky body, which creates a really cool and bold silhouette, combined with baggy pants, that usually sit right at the hip and then fall baggy allows to give some bodyily context while still having an oversized look. Perfect for everyday but also a night out in my opinion (just add a baby T-Shirt and you’re good to go).
They’re also mostly super comfy, warm and practical when they have several pockets. With all the sports fashion right now it just makes sense that bomber jackets are having a comeback – even though some might argue they have never been out of style in mainstream, which is probably true – but still.

During the 4 days of Fashion Week in Copenhagen I got so much inspiration and there are probably more and different trends to be observed (balloon skirts, rivets, …), but these are the ones I found most interesting and exciting, and I hope you will too! And of course as usual: not participating in a trend does not make you less fashionable!
As this is my first ever issue of ‘This Girl I Follow’ I am forever thankful for your feedback and your grace. This is a work in progress for me, it might get more personal, I might go more into detail for other issues, but for me it was important to just start with it at all!
Let me know what you think about the concept, the design, the usability. If you’re reading this: thanks for making it this far <3
